Default Skipping?

Hey everyone, I am trying to play Guild Wars on my new comp, but I can't seem to figure out this problem I am having. Every time I start the game, it loads to login screen, and then skips. Its like a horrible lag storm, but it never stops. Here are my specs.

AMD Athlon 3400+ 64 bit processor
Gigabyte Nforce 3 mobo
1 GB of ram
NVIDEA GeForce 6800 256mb with the 71.89 drivers
SB Audigy 2

please help! I have never run into this problem before, and all the other games I have played on this comp have run perfectly.

I have the exact same problem! I also get the rubber band bug lots. How do I do a rollback?

Add/Remove Control Panel, uninstall Nvidia/Ati, etc and reboot.
Let pc autodetect the video and install drivers (may need another reboot).
Then dowload the previous driver before your current one and install.

Xp Pro (don't think home edition) has driver rollback but I would go the uninstall/re-install route.

Uninstalled my drivers, and now I can't reinstall the graphic drivers. Says that it cannot find any files that are supported or something. Can anyone help again? Sorry to be a pest.

Um try going in and taking out the card moving it down a slot if its an AGP one and you have one slot then just put it out and back in, Another thing if it is AGP/PCI make sure you have it in the right kind of slot or else your computer wont recognize it and that could be a big problem.

You could also try going online and getting the latest version, plus a couple of earlier versions of the drivers for your card. If you dont install the drivers from the manufacturers installation programme, or if youv uninstalled the drivers and they arnt on your PC anymore then you might get that problem with not finding files.

If its missing drivers and not a card issue, then swapping around slots and removing/replacing your card isnt going to put the drivers on your hard drive.

Go online and download as many versions as you can find. Save them somewhere nice and obvious and with big clear version numbers (because theres nothing worse than forgetting what you have just installed when you have 6 or 8 different crappilly titled versions to go through) and if any of those versions solve your problem, try them all seperatly to find what gives you best performance.

Newest isnt always best, and some games seem to prefer different drivers, in my experiance.

Rather than peeling off your PCs lid and moving cards about, check to see if your card is displayed in Device Manager (Right click my computer - properties - hardware - device manager - display adapters) if it shows up then your PC knows its there, and it will also tell you if your PC knows of any conflicts.

Running Dxdiag (start menu - run - dxdiag.exe) will also tell you of any known problems, and will tell you what versions of which things you are running.

If your card is in your PC, but isnt shown up anywhere then do what the last poster said, but it sounds to me simply that your PC cant locate the drivers for your card.

I severly doubt uninstalling drivers would have made your Card jump slots.

One of the reasons for extreme lag could be the extreme lag thats been present on the Euro servers recently , or running your card too high for the game.
Cranking all setting up to max might not affect some people, but others it could cause to grind to a halt.

I have to change my card settings when switching between Guild Wars and Rome : Total War e.g. otherwise I experiance a bit of reduced speed.
